New district heating for Christmas

New district heating for Christmas

Since April Infratek has worked to add new district heating and power cables at the Frogner and Ullern areas in Oslo. Having encountered harder mountain rock than expected, the residents in the area have experienced more noise than usual. The work is now at the end and Infratek therefore thanked the residents for the patience and congratulated them with new district heating by handing out free hot coffee and fresh buns throughout Friday 16 December.

Infratek work has been to establish new district heating and 132 kV facilities in the Frogner and Ullern areas.
The project is now close to being completed, and in connection to this , Infratek wanted to give a little attention to the residents in the area. Friday 16 December they were served free coffee, tea, juice and rolls at local stores. Jan Torstensen and Trond Petter Lunde at Infratek handed out buns and coffee.

- We wanted to take this opportunity to thank residents for the patience during the construction work. We've had some objections to the noise and realize that it can be frustrating for residents in the area when work is ongoing. But, unfortunately it's just the way it is when you work with providing the city with infrastructure, Torstensen says.

- In the Frogner area there was a lot of rock in the ground. We encountered very hard rock, to a much greater extent than expected. We therefore put in place measures along the way. Among other things, we took new machines into use that are more efficient, so that the noise periods were shorter. We are pleased now to be able to serve the happy news of completion along with coffee and buns, says Jan Thorstensen.
